Welcome!

Founded in 2002 by William T. Bell and James (Jim) Rairigh, W. T. Bell International (WTBI) is recognized by operator and service companies as the industry leader in the design, hydrostatic function testing and supply of explosive jet cutters and severing tools to cut pipe. Our field service quality success rate is greater than 99%. Our latest innovation is the game-changing Expansion Charge, a highly efficient rigless operation that remediates annulus leaks and reduces costs.

Explosive Jet Cutters

Whether low-pressure gas or 30,000-psi HPHT operations, WTBI addresses all needs with existing or custom-designed explosive devices to ensure cost-effective drill pipe, casing, tubing, packer mandrel and coiled tubing cutting operations.

Expansion Charges

Customized, patented Expansion Charges achieve maximum expansion of the pipe without rupture to remediate annulus leaks in plug-and-abandonment or live well operations. No restrictions, obstructions or leak paths are introduced, allowing full wellbore access post intervention. The efficient rigless operation remediates annulus leaks in two days or less and reduces costs up to 82%.

A Dual-End Fired Expansion Charge (DEFEC) job in a well successfully remediated unwanted annular pressure behind 7.625-in., 33.7-lbm, N80 casing. The multifinger caliper log proves there were no breaches in the casing, the expansions were consistent, and the maximum expansion achieved was 0.65 in. And best of all, there was no pressure buildup after the job. Successes like this demonstrate that tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars can be saved when Expansion Charges are used to safely and reliably expand pipe to seal leaks without a squeeze job or section milling.

Severing Tools

WTBI Dual-End Fired Pressure-Balanced Severing Tools are designed for the difficult jobs such as heavy-wall drill pipe and drill collars. These tools have been hydrostatically tested at WTBI in working pressures up to 30,000 psi. They are available in 138-, 134-, 2-, 218– and 258-in. OD sizes.

Hydrostatic Testing Services & Custom Development

WTBI provides functional testing of its Cutters, Severing Tools and Expansion Charges as well as third-party ballistics products up to 30,000-psi working pressure and 500°F, qualifying tools to ensure they perform safely and reliably at maximum rated downhole conditions. Hydrostatic Testing Services are also offered on custom development projects.
